While in the small eastern Russian town of Baikalsk, we met a woodcarver, once fireman. He spends his retirement carving sculptures out of wood with a chainsaw. A fabulous carpenter, he built his entire house from scratch, leaving behind intricate detail from the molding to the cabinets. Above his living area, he built himself an attic workroom, where he can work on smaller pieces. The space is filled with projects, tools, and interesting details, making it quite the perfect interior space to photography.
